Vedic Mathematics Academy

Overview

Summary

Role: Website Designer & Developer
Collaboration: Business Owner
Tools: WordPress, Figma, Integrated Website Forms
Deliverables: Full responsive website, brand identity, booking system, content architecture
Focus: Educational UX, course booking, brand creation

I designed and developed a clean, scalable website for Ved Saraswati; an educational startup offering Vedic Mathematics courses. My goal was to create a brand-aligned, intuitive platform that reflected the Academy’s commitment to logic-based, fast and accurate computation.

Problem Statement

Ved Saraswati had a clear vision: to build learners’ analytical and numerical skills using Vedic Mathematics. However, the startup lacked an online presence that matched this mission. Key issues included:

  • No existing platform to showcase or book courses

  • Absence of a cohesive brand identity or defined colour palette

  • Unclear content requirements and evolving expectations

  • Difficulty communicating the unique value of Vedic Maths visually

  • Need for a seamless booking experience for parents and learners

These problems created barriers to visibility, user engagement, and enrolments.

About the Project

Ved Saraswati is a Vedic Mathematics Academy that promotes a rational, logic-based approach to mental calculation. Their courses help develop speed, accuracy, and structured problem-solving.

The website needed to:

  • Present the Academy’s values and benefits in a way that appeals to modern learners and their parents

  • Enable easy course discovery and booking

  • Establish a professional digital identity while respecting the traditional roots of Vedic Mathematics

  • Allow users to communicate with the business through contact forms and calls-to-action

  • Create an interface that could scale as the Academy grows its offerings

Design Goals

  • Develop a clean and modern visual identity for the Academy

  • Build a multi-page, responsive website tailored for educational use

  • Create a smooth course booking experience for users of all ages

  • Ensure accessibility across devices and browsers

  • Balance traditional design elements with a contemporary UX structure

Research

Methods & Insights:

  • Interviewed the business owner to understand Ved Saraswati’s core mission and target users

  • Researched competitor education platforms to analyse layout patterns, content strategies and calls to action

  • Identified primary user personas:

    • Parents seeking quality math tuition for their children

    • Young learners interested in quick calculation techniques

    • Adults looking to boost numerical reasoning

  • Explored existing booking experiences in similar services for ease of comparison

  • Audited Vedic Maths visual references to incorporate symbolic or thematic inspirations

“We want a site that’s clean and credible but still reflects the mental agility and rooted traditions of Vedic Maths.” — Founder, Ved Saraswati

Ideation & Strategy

Key Design Decisions:

  • Created a distinct colour palette combining soft, warm tones for approachability with accents symbolising intellect and tradition

  • Defined an information architecture that broke down content into digestible pages: Home, About, Courses, Booking, Contact

  • Designed user personas and journey flows to map expected actions (e.g. viewing a course → booking → form submission)

  • Developed brand language with a tone that was calm, confident, and educational

  • Proposed visual elements rooted in speed, clarity, and logic to reflect the spirit of the Vedic system

Prototyping & Testing

Deliverables:

  • Created low-fidelity wireframes to align with the Academy owner on layout direction and content blocks

  • Designed high-fidelity prototypes with complete colour system, typography, imagery, and form elements

  • Implemented an organised course catalogue, structured by level and topic for better user navigation

  • Developed a booking system that captured key user inputs (e.g. course type, learner age, preferred time)

  • Conducted usability testing with parents and adult learners, collecting feedback on flow, readability, and ease of booking

  • Iterated based on feedback and technical feasibility, adjusting form fields and section hierarchy as needed

Final Solution

Final Designs:

  • A professional, multi-page educational website built in WordPress

  • A brand-aligned design system with custom colour palette and clear, legible typefaces

  • Course catalogue with categories, pricing, and simplified enrolment paths

  • Responsive contact and booking forms, including email notifications

  • Visuals and layout choices that reflect both modern UI principles and traditional inspiration

Impact and Results:

  • Launched a fully branded, responsive platform that clearly communicates the Academy’s mission

  • Delivered a streamlined booking flow, removing friction for learners and parents

  • Increased visibility and reach, with new traffic driven via SEO-optimised content and contact forms

  • Enabled the business owner to manage content updates independently post-launch

  • Early user feedback highlighted ease of use, visual clarity, and professional credibility

Challenges & Learnings

Key Challenges:

  • Uncertainty at the start regarding content structure from the business owner

  • Balancing the traditional identity of Vedic Maths with clean, engaging UI patterns

  • Technical troubleshooting of form design, validation, and responsiveness

  • Ensuring broad accessibility and cultural appropriateness of visuals

Learnings

  • Always align early on expectations around content and copy scope

  • Designing for educational platforms requires empathy and clarity above all

  • A strong brand palette and layout system helps unify traditional and modern design narratives

  • Testing with real users especially those with lower digital literacy adds immense value

  • Booking systems should minimise friction while ensuring complete user input

Reflection

This project reinforced my belief in the power of intuitive design in education. By focusing on the user journey, from discovery to enrolment; I helped make learning more accessible and the brand more credible. I also saw firsthand how careful brand and UX decisions can improve a startup’s trust factor and scalability.

For future phases, I’d explore:

  • Tracking analytics based on sign ups and booking forms

  • Adding a learning blog or resources section

  • Building a mobile-first dashboard for enrolled students
